Biography

Dr. Henry WONG

Consultant Anesthesiologist, Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin, NT, Hong Kong.

Dr Wong currently serves as the Assistant Professor in the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is also the Consultant, Chief of Cardiac Anaesthesia and the service lead for Perioperative Medicine in Prince of Wales Hospital. Prof Wong is the Assistant Secretary and Council member at The Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists, the Training Officer at the College Board of Education, and the Chairman of the Training Subcommittee at COC(Anaesthesia) of the Hospital Authority.

Dr Wong obtained his Fellowship at the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthesiologists at 2014, the Master of Science in Perioperative Medicine at University College of London, and the Master of Science in Health Service Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

One of his active research areas is on perioperative medicine, especially on how to improve operative outcomes of high-risk and cardiac surgical patients through perioperative measures, prehabilitation, acute and chronic pain optimization and fast-track cardiac anaesthesia. He is the PI and Co-I on several ongoing research projects related to perioperative cardiac anaesthesia, including evaluating the efficacy of preoperative intravenous iron therapy for anaemia patients, studying the value of a prehabilitation program for frail cardiac surgical patients, and application of novel regional techniques for acute and chronic pain management in cardiac surgical patients. He has publications in several peer-reviewed journals including BJA, BMJ Open, Perioperative Medicine, and the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesia.
