Biography
Dr. Albert CHAN
Consultant Anesthesiologist, Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin, NT, Hong Kong.
Dr Albert Chan is the Chief of Service and Consultant Anaesthetist at the Department of Anaesthesia, Pain and Perioperative Medicine in Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) and Cluster Director of Anaesthesia Services of New Territories East Cluster (NTEC). He is also Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has special interests in cardiac anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia, point-of-care ultrasound, perioperative medicine and cardiac interventional procedures. With a background in computer science, he is also active in developing smart hospital solutions to help enhance patient engagement and safety, as well as improve clinical processes.
His greatest passion lies in medical education and obtained his Masters of Health Professions Education from Maastricht University, Netherlands. He is currently council member and the chair of the Board of Education of Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists (HKCA), and member of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (HKAM) Education Committee. His particular interests are in feedback, debriefing, and simulation-based medical education. He is also actively engaged in well-being initiatives with the college and exploring the role of positive psychology in enhancing clinician well-being and resilience.
