Dr. Yasuyuki Shibata

Dr Shibata is an associate professor of Surgical center, and a faculty of the department of Anesthesiology at the Nagoya University Hospital. He is a board-certified trainer of the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists, a board-certified fellow of the Japanese Society of Pain Clinicians, and a board-certified fellow of the Japanese Society of Regional Anesthesia. He is also a councilor of the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists. He is one of the leaders in the field of ultrasound-guided regional block in Japan. He published USG-stellate ganglion block using a microconvex probe, USG intercostal approach of thoracic paravertebral block, USG mandibular and maxillary nerve blocks, and USG costotransverse foramen block. He has accepted many anesthesiologists from Asia and educated them in regional anesthesia and pain medicine. He loves thoracic paravertebral block and calls himself a paraveretbralist. The term “paravertebralist” was coinde by Professor Manoj Karmakar when Prof. Karmakar and Dr. Shibata were having a drink at Brown Sugar in Tiwan.
