Warfarin

Drug interactions

Potentiate effect of warfarin

- antibiotics
- cimetidine
- diazoxide
- ibuprofen
- pentoxifylline
- phenytoin

Counteract or diminish effect

- steroids
- antacids
- barbiturates
- haloperidol
- sucralfate

Conditions that prolong PT of patients on warfarin

- cancer
- collagen disease
- CCF
- diarrhoea
- fever
- hepatic disorders
- hyperthyroidism
- poor nutrition
- steatorrhoea

Conditions that decrease PT

- oedema
- hereditary warfarin resistance
- hyperlipidaemia
- hypothyroidism
