In order to be eligible for any of the training posts listed below candidates must be eligible for full or limited registration with the Medical Council of Hong Kong.

Advanced training

  • A limited number of posts exist for doctors who wish to obtain the Fellowship of the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (Australia and New Zealand) or the Hong Kong College Anaesthesiologists (Intensive Care). The ICU is recognized for C24 training.
  • A very limited number of posts exist for doctors who have completed specialist training in anaesthesia who wish to obtain further training in both clinical Intensive Care and Intensive Care research.
  • Additional posts are available for senior trainees who are able to cover their own costs. Candidates for these posts should have a minimum of six months of Intensive Care experience.

Basic training

  • Intensive care training is provided for anaesthetists training for FANZCA or FHKCA.
  • Additional posts are available for junior trainees who are able to cover their own costs. Candidates for these posts should have a minimum of three months experience in Intensive Care or have passed a Fundamental Critical Care support course.
