Complications

Common

  • haemorrhage
    • late haemorrhage is usually due to erosion of blood vessel as a complication of intra-abdominal sepsis
  • intra-abdominal sepsis
    • usually due to ductal or anastamotic leakage
    • muddy brown effluent may be present in drains
  • pancreatic fistula
  • biliary fistula
  • wound infection
  • pulmonary and urinary tract infection
