CDIM, Sydney

A new position is available from 2009 for a full-time JFICM advanced trainee or immediate post-FJFICM part 3, to work for a year in the Centre for Infectious Diseases and Micriobiology (CIDM), doing general Infectious Diseases (6 months) and Critical Care Infection (immunocompromised/ ICU/ haematology/transplant; 6 months).

CIDM is a large tertiary referral centre with strong clinical and basic research programs and a major diagnostic reference laboratory, in which sessions may also be negotiated. We have the national pancrease transplant unit and conduct 70% of the bone marrow transplants in NSW.

The post is designed to attract future career Intensivists wishing to understand more about Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in the critical care setting, and will also suit those with an interest in subspecialist and/or research training.

The position is intended to satisfy the JFICM requirements for Medicine and replaces the current half-time JFICM-approved position. The successful applicant will be on a rotation with two FRACP advanced trainees in Infectious Diseases for the year, and is available at Registrar/ Senior Registrar level according to qualifications and experience. Split/shared appointments with ICU may be negotiated.
