Students are expected to be able to:

  • Describe the potentially reversible causes of cardiac arrest
  • Demonstrate the immediate management of a simulated witnessed in-hospital cardiac arrest
  • Describe how to recognize and treat common peri-arrest arrhythmias
  • Demonstrate effective external cardiac compressions
  • Recognize and treat cardiac arrest rhythms
  • Demonstrate safe and effective use of an automated external defibrillator
  • Demonstrate safe and effective use of a non-automated external defibrillator
  • Describe the ethical and legal implications of attempting/not attempting resuscitation
