Initial priorities

  • Ensure safety of healthcare workers. Injury or infection of healthcare workers results in:
    • increased numbers of patients
    • decreased staff available to care for patients
  • Consider need for:
    • Isolation/decontamination of patients
    • Personal protective equipment
    • Temporary facilities if permanent facility unsafe or overloaded
  • Consider need for immediate treatment or prevention steps
